The researcher is often not a singular job and is more often combined with the Art Dept Assistant, if it exists at all. Certainly it is more likely on a larger production. A good entry level position for someone who enjoys culture and history and can lead into a later career as Art Department Co-Ordinator or within Property department as a props buyer.

You need a good eye for detail within images for this role as mostly you will be compiling images of buildings, landscapes, clothing and artifacts from which the designers can extrapolate the look of the film. You need to be systematic and orderly in the presentation of the images as well as be able to accurately interpret the requests of the designers getting to the core of their needs without generating to many images not directly relevant to the feel.e
