Welder

Welders work in construction and sometimes as on set standby depending on the nature of the film, and the sets and large props, machinery etc. Typically they build substructures for wood and polystyrene sets to be attached to, weld shipping containers together for large backlot greenscreens, and other structural large scale work. Yet it is not uncommon to find them called in to manufacture fake machinery, iron gates and other dressing particularly large props and vehicles which may require conversion. On King Kong for example the steel bow of an exisitng ship had to be modified so that it was a perpendicular 1930′s bow with full structural integrity for sea-worthiness.
